Women’s Spirit-Filled Ministry in Acts

She-ology: Exploring Women's Role in The Church

23 Jun Women’s Spirit-Filled Ministry in Acts

The women disciples who witnessed Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection were also present at Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came. All the 120 –both men and women–were filled with the Spirit and gifted to speak, fulfilling Joel’s great prophecy. In the Old Testament only men were priests and the Spirit filled only a few. Now all believers are priests and the Spirit fills and gifts all believers–both women and men. Acts gives examples of gifted women–Lydia, Tabitha, Priscilla, etc.–used by God.
