in Thriving in a Hostile Culture
This week we start our Fall series on the books of Daniel and Esther. To begin we will look at Daniel 1:1-8a. We will spend time considering the parallel between Daniel and his friends being displaced (exiled) to Babylon, a hostile culture to what they were used to in Jerusalem, and the culture we find ourselves in today that is almost entirely against the Judeo-Christian underpinnings of our country. To call Toronto post-Christian is not a stretch at all. But how has God asked us to live as a minority in such a culture? For that we look to His encouraging words to Daniel and his friends in Jeremiah 29:4-7.
