The King has Come

21 Days of Giving

26 Jan The King has Come

The very first words Mark records of Jesus are, “The time is fulfilled. God’s kingdom has come. Repent and believe!” The long wait for God to come was over! God’s kingdom and king Jesus, his son, had come. How should they respond? Turn around, 180 degrees! Leave their old life, ways and thoughts, and follow Jesus. Psalm 2 similarly speaks of God’s king coming. As in Jesus’ baptism, God identifies the king as his Son, “You are my Son” (Psa. 2:7; Mk. 1:11) So how did those in Psalm 2 respond to God’s king, God’s Son? Some hated him. But God counselled them to “kiss the Son” and to “take refuge in him” (Psa. 2:12). This is what discipleship is. Having an intimate relationship with God’s Son and trusting him.
