This week we will look at Lydia in Acts 16. She is an immigrant, and an independent business woman in a male-dominated society. She has done so well for herself, but is not satisfied with the wealth and prestige her success has brought her. She also has tried and rejected the Roman state religion, recognizing that it too brings no lasting satisfaction. In Acts 16, we find her with a small group of Jewish women on the outskirts of Philippi. When Paul sits and talks with them about Jesus and his salvation, her life is changed forever.
