26 Jan Facing Conflict
Mark 2:1-3:6 shows us 5 stories of opposition/conflict that Jesus encountered from the religious leaders of his day. As disciples of Jesus our ultimate goal is to be like him. So, we shouldn’t be surprised when we experience similar things as he did.
How did he face conflict? In times of prayer with God, and with courage and boldness. Why? Because while the religious leaders cared mostly for their man-made tradition, neglecting the needs of the people, Jesus cared for the needs of the hurting people and not for the burdens and traditions of men.
When you face conflict as an apprentice of Jesus are you spending time with him to strengthen yourself for the fight? An great, old hymn reminds us to “Turn your eyes upon Jesus! Look full in his wonderful face.”
